    Get PDF
This thesis presents work on analytical modeling and simulation of SiGe MOS gate HEMT. A modified model for the threshold voltage of the MOS-gate HEMT is presented. An expression to calculate accurately minimum gate voltage VGmin of p-channel MOS-gate HEMT is derived. Using the modified expressions, VTHp and VGmin are calculated. Current-voltage characteristics, transconductance and cutoff frequency are calculated and plotted using the modified model and the results are compared with the results obtained from an existing model. The effects of different device and material parameter variation on VTHp and VGmin are also investigated. An analytical temperature model for the MOS-gate HEMT is proposed. The temperature variation of threshold voltage, current-voltage characteristics and transconductance are simulated using the analytical model.A model for a delta-doped MOS-gate HEMT is proposed which is valid for any width of the delta-doped layer. Effects of different device parameters on VTHp and Vtl have been investigated using this model. In addition, device simulator MediciTM has been used to simulate the delta-doped and regular-doped MOS-gate HEMTs. The results obtained from the MediciTM simulations are compared to some of the results obtained from the analytical model

CSR is an obligation of corporate entity towards society for social development. The term was coined during 1950s and mostly practiced by developed countries so far. For least developed countries like Bangladesh, the practice of CSR wasn’t so popular before 1980s, in the years of 2016, Bangladesh ranked 31st largest economy, and in 2019 it ranked as 5th fastest growing economy around the world. With such exponential growth of Bangladesh economy, the private sector is currently booming with enormous potentiality, especially the banking industry.  Following the drastic change of economy, Bangladesh government has declared 10% tax rebate on CSR activities to promote social development. The banking industry of Bangladesh is mainly dominated by two types of private commercial banks (PCBs), Conventional and Islami Shariah Based banks. The objective of this study is to find out the trends and preferences for CSR investment area of each bank type. The study was conducted by using secondary source of data, which was collected over the duration of 4 years (2015-2018). Online version of annual reports, CSR reports and journal were used in this study. Quantitative analysis method was used to find out the heavily and narrowly invested CSR areas. The study reveals that the both Islami Shariah Based PCBs and conventional PCBs invest heavily on 3 common areas (Disaster management, Education and Health) and narrowly invest on areas  Sports, Arts-literature & culture and Environment, this study also indicates that Islami Shariah Based PCBs have significant higher CSR expenditure than conventional PCBs on prescribed CSR areas

Islamic Finance has always been well known for its unique characteristics to deal with finance. However, few countries pay heed on Islamic rules and regulations and fewer actually prefer to run based on it, the reason is obvious the oppositional standpoint with capitalism. Nevertheless, as the world is facing serious public health crisis like COVID-19, and all normal economic activities cease to function properly, conventional finance is facing serious challenges handling this situation. Though COVID-19 has already been called as great equalizer, not discriminating based on any social, economic, or political strata, Under-developing countries are having quite a hard time surviving this crisis, and Bangladesh is not an exception, especially the vulnerable community of Bangladesh. The objective of this study is to find out the practical implication of Zakat as short-term emergency support system for vulnerable community of Dhaka north City Corporation. To conduct the study, primary source of data was used, following a semi-structure questionnaire using quantitative method of data collection, and convenience sampling style was used for limited mobility induced by COVID-19 lockdown. The study finds out that the practical implications of Zakat are quite useful especially as a short term emergency support system during the COVID-19 crisis, this study also finds out that  Zakat can be used as a tool for building resilience also only if smaller number of Zakat recipients are selected

With the determination to achieve 100% carbon free energy generation by 2050, renewable energy has been widely accepted as a feasible option for environmentally friendly and inclusive economic growth. Giving priority to this support mechanism is vital to upholding a steady and conducive atmosphere for investment in this sector while meeting the anticipated target in the energy system in an economical way, and policy makers reveal that auctions have reached their pinnacle in due course of time. Merely 29 states had applied renewable energy auctions up to the end of 2017 and their number increased to 41 in 2019. The present study aims to prepare a roadmap for achieving the carbon free green energy production target within the stipulated period while meeting future energy demand through a cost-effective auctioning scheme. The research outlines the feasibility of suggested auctioning schemes, highlighting some country-specific empirical evidence and potential benefits for countries. For this, qualitative research has been conducted to summarize and assess the necessary conditions to develop an auctioning model. The results indicate that for the emerging economics that are provided with renewable energy sources, technology-neutral site-specific volume auctions systematically scheduled, together with socio-economic development instruments under qualification requirement, result in diversified gains

Despite the upliftment of the society, energy is playing a pervasive role that accelerates the socio-economic progress of a nation. There is no way to disagree that almost every economic activity is backed by energy. Bangladesh is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. With the recent attribute of “New Asian Tiger” and the aim to become a middle-income nation by 2021, the country has been enlisted in the “Next Eleven” economies. Bangladesh has ensured constant GDP growth, net power generation growth and growth in industrial production last few years. The aim of the paper is to deliver an essence of up-to-date energy-mix and overall energy scenario of Bangladesh. The paper investigates what is the overall energy scenario of Bangladesh and is there any relation among the real GDP growth, net power generation growth, industrial production growth (manufacturing, mining & construction) for Bangladesh? The paper suggests that in the short run there is a significant relationship between GDP Growth Rate and Industrial Production Growth Rate in Bangladesh. Moreover, the paper indicates that there is a significant increase in Net Electricity Generation which is influencing industrial production growth in Bangladesh. In addition to that it postulates some suggestions for the power sector for coming days

Keeping the world livable, the policy makers are giving their extended focus on green energy. They are trying to move on hand-on-hand with rising green energy and lessening carbon dioxide (CO2) emission steading the economic activities specially for the open and developing countries. This can be helpful to provide a more lucrative economic environment to meet the extended demand of the society. The paper highlights to find out whether the economic growth, renewable energy consumption, fossil fuel-based energy generation and CO2 emission are significantly impactful on renewable energy generation or not? Is there any mutual, bi-directorial, unidirectional relationship with each other? For this, the Vector Autoregression (VAR) model is run. The paper focuses on six EU countries who are practicing auction scheme for deploying robust green energy (especially solar and wind) by reducing dependency on fossil fuel and expanding their economy with less CO2 emission. The result of the analysis shows that a positive influence of each concern variable on renewable energy (RE) generation and auction scheme might have a significant impact if robustness of the generation occurs

The reliability and performance of a system with minimum life-cycle cost have become quite prominent in engineering systems. With increasing industrial applications, machines are operating in intricate conditions with higher uncertainty, causing greater vulnerability of system failure. This paper reports fault-related information of Brushless DC Motor (BLDC motor) in nonstationary operating conditions and presents several analyses to diagnose the faults. Fault diagnosis is the most crucial and important part of system prognostics which helps to increase the remaining useful life (RUL) and prevent catastrophic failures. Having both electrical and mechanical characteristics present in a BLDC motor, it shows several faults in different operating conditions. These faults cause a significant change in the vibration of the Motor. This paper deals with the anomaly detection of BLDC motor in nonstationary speed conditions using vibration signal analysis as well as extraction of several Condition Indicators (CI)
